Planning

The department plan below detail the Units of Learning planned for first and second year group across the two terms of the academic year from placement one. The curriculum plan demonstrates a variety of mediums for meeting learning outcomes, gaining skills and experiences throughout their educational journeys. The plan can be tailored to the learner's needs as well as the school environment and resources. The approach to curriculum planning is to develop a love of the arts and a curiosity for lifelong learning through constructive model in which knowledge is developed and revisited as the student progresses through their school years.

As a teacher, I aim to create an environment in which students create without fear of failure and realise the beauty and potential in their mistakes.  Each unit takes students through the methods of taking an artwork from conception to realisation, with a focus on taking ownership over their own learning and artistic practice. Through visual art, culture, and appreciation students will interact with a variety of contemporary and relevant subjects, encouraging them to develop their own voice and think critically about the world around them.
