Artist Statement

First and foremost, I am an artist living in a rural village in County Roscommon.  My artistic practise, which is influenced by the flat wetland fields of County Roscommon, focuses on responding to the natural environment as inspiration for subject matter or using its materiality to create a sensory experience for the viewer. This process stems from emotional suppression and my adult struggle to express my inner child.

The aim of my artistic practise is to create a sense of comfort and safe space through expression through sculpture, painting, and performance art. To incorporate organic shapes from the rural landscape, I use loose gestural paint strokes in painting and gestural dance in performance art.  The goal is to provide the viewer with a sense of ecotherapy. To inspire others to think deeply about their relationship with nature, thereby promoting personal growth and healing. Taking inspiration from the work of many contemporary abstract artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Amanda Coogan, and Georgia O'Keeffe.
